¡Hola!
Welcome to my digital space! I'm Carlos, a Spanish-Puerto Rican AI practitioner and photographer based in Orlando, Florida.
Professionally, I am currently immersed in the startup world, deep in the trenches of AI innovation, working on privacy-preserving technologies at USEncryption. Every day, I get to develop tech that will help us navigate this new AI- and data-driven era we find ourselves in. I am convinced the future is very bright, but I strongly believe it is up to us to define how these new technologies will affect our world. Prior to where I am today, I received a master's degree in computer science from the University of Central Florida, where I focused my studies in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision systems. During my time at UCF, I also worked as a research assistant at the Center for Research in Computer Vision (CRCV), where I got to experience for the first time the world of academic research and the development of cutting edge technologies.
Beyond my love for technology, you'll often find me with my camera in hand as I capture and document the beauty of this life. I also love listening to and writing music that speaks to my soul. You see, photography and music have a way of speaking directly to you… it helps us express our emotions so much better than just with words. For me, these serve as a way to remember key memories in my life, and ultimately embrace a spirit of gratitude.
On a more personal and more important note, I am Catholic, and I've been happily married to my beautiful wife Christina for almost a year. Faith and family are my anchors in this fast-paced world, offering both inspiration and solace wherever life takes me. We all have great days and not-so-great days, but I can always count on my faith and my family to be a solid foundation as we navigate through life.
So this all begs the question: why this website? Through it, I aim to share my experience in all these different areas of my life. I'd love to simply be your guide and companion as we navigate the realms of AI, tech, photography, music, and beyond. This includes tutorials, updates, and general discussions on all these areas, as well as a growing portfolio of work. Together, let's explore, learn, and grow, finding joy and connection in the shared experiences that make us human.
